At Bunks at Rode, we take pride in making a positive difference for students in Oslo. As part of Stiftelsen Anker, we are committed to providing affordable housing for students in Oslo. Every year, the surplus from our operations, including the new hostel concept, Bunks at Rode, is reinvested into the foundation's mission—to offer students a safe and comfortable place to live while they pursue their studies.

Over the past 10 years, Stiftelsen Anker has built and opened more than 800 student housing units. We are a non-commercial entity with the goal of maintaining rent levels comparable to SiO.

Social living: A lifeline in a challenging housing market

This year, we've taken an extra step to help students who are still searching for permanent housing as the semester begins. We have dedicated one of our brand-new dorms to those who are still waiting for a long-term place to stay. For 150 NOK per night, students can stay in a bunk with linens, a locker for their belongings, towels, and access to our new communal facilities.

Our dorms offer necessities you need to feel at home, even if it’s just for a short stay. Including newly renovated communal bathrooms equipped with shampoo, conditioner, hairdryers, and mirrors, as well as common spaces that include a Social Lounge, workstations, a cinema room, and a spectacular rooftop terrace. Though it might not be ideal to start the semester in a shared room, we hope to make the experience as comfortable, and fun, as possible.
We also offer a 30% student discount on private rooms.

An inclusive environment and social living

We understand how important it is to build social networks while being a student, which is why we place great emphasis on creating an inclusive and engaging atmosphere. For both hostel guests and student residents.

Our events team, The Social Club, is responsible for a wide range of social activities. During the start of this academic year, we offer a full month of daily events, from movie nights and karaoke to quizzes, study sessions and excursions— specifically targeted at student, to enable an inclusive and social environment. The main event being our "Housewarming" party for all tenants at the Anker Foundation and guests at Bunks at Rode.

Activities and events are free for all hostel guests and student residents, providing a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, relax, and have fun. Outside of the events calendar both students and guests are also free to use the shared spaces to make simple meals, study, socialize, play games, watch movies or just hang out.
